Garmin Edge 850 Will not communicate with Meta Ai in app (Oakley Vanguard)..Sunglasses with Slash

I have a pair of Oakley Vanguards (v21) and a Garmin Edge 850.  Everything has been updated to the latest firmware.  Glasses, Garmin, and phone were re-started.  All of the permissions were enabled.  Everything is linked via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.  Garmin service is linked to Meta Ai app.  The Meta ai / gamin connection is listed.  Garmin has Activity screen with Sunglass icon (slash across it).  Initiate the activity with the Meta Ai field contained... no communication. (Sunglasses with slash)

I have an additional connected watch (garmin Enduro 3) with the same procedure, functions and communicates with no issues.... (Sunglasses with no slash)

I cant see the traffic between the components to figure what is the issue with the Edge 850.

Looks like your Edge 850 isn’t actually streaming live data to Meta AI, even though it’s linked, that’s why you see the sunglasses icon with a slash during activities. The glasses and Garmin work together in theory, but not all Garmin devices always send real-time stats to Meta AI properly yet.

Understood, I am trying to determine if it is a "hand shake" issue between components (which component), hardware compatibility, or a coding problem. Oakley says that the code is meta's responsibility and meta has requested that I talk to Oakley.  Left hand isn't talking to the right hand scenario.

  • Well, Garmin has forwarded the issue to Meta regarding the Meta software.  I contacted meta live support and they requested that I contact Oakley.  I informed Meta that Oakley forwarded me to Meta.  Meta support indicated that the trouble shooting process indicates that the Garmin 850 is not compatible with meta ai.  I informed them both Garmin and meta has it as a compatible product.  I asked if the Meta ai app could be the issue.  I was informed that there isn't a listing of an issue with the Meta Ai software.  End result:  please "talk to Oakley"

  • IT'S ALIVE....

I tried a live chat with Garmin and was suggested that I talk to Meta again...(nope)

I had just joined the Garmin Beta trial and began asking on the Garmin forum. A member let me know that a new Garmin Beta firmware was mentioned to fix this issue.  30.17 firmware was the ticket and it had immediate connection.

Fingers crossed that it holds through the next set of updates.
