Meta Glasses for the legally blind

I recently purchased the Meta glasses for my mom, who is legally blind, and I felt compelled to share this experience.

To be honest, we both ended up crying. For years, I’ve wished there was an affordable device that could help her navigate everyday life—something as simple as reading a menu, identifying items, or just feeling a little more independent. Most assistive devices on the market cost thousands of dollars, which makes them inaccessible for many families.

These glasses changed that for us.

The ability for her to hear text read aloud, describe what someone is wearing, recognize surroundings, and so many other everyday details has been incredible. It was brilliant for Meta to integrate with the “Be My Eyes” app—this partnership has truly elevated what these glasses can do for people with visual impairments.

The transition lenses were also the perfect choice, since light sensitivity has always been an issue for her. Now she can use them comfortably in different environments without added strain.

For the first time in a long time, I saw her feel empowered instead of limited.

This product isn’t just tech—it’s life-changing.

Thank you for creating something that brings real accessibility to people who need it most. My mom is so happy, and that means everything to me.

  • Be careful. Meta AI can make mistakes and you shouldn't rely only on her.

There is the "be my eyes"-App (useable with the glasses of course) which is probably more suitable and also liable in case of an accident.

I am really happy to hear that the glasses are really making a big difference for your mom. I wish only the best for the future:)

    Happy Eastersunday 🐰🐣
