Meta Ray-Ban Gen 2 Glasses Not Powering On or Charging

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a pair of Meta Ray-Ban Gen 2 smart glasses (prescription lenses) from Walmart. However, I’m facing an issue where the glasses do not power on or charge, despite following all recommended steps.

Here’s the situation:

  • The charging case works correctly: when plugged in, the case shows the yellow LED indicating it’s charging.
  • When I place the glasses in the case:
    • No LED appears on the glasses.
    • The case sometimes shows a red LED when open.
  • I have tried:
    • Using the original iPhone 20W wall charger
    • Checking and cleaning the charging pins on both the case and glasses
    • Ensuring the glasses sit properly in the case with magnets snapping in place
    • Attempting the long reset method (pressing the side button for 20–25 seconds)
  • Despite all this, the glasses remain unresponsive.

Additional details:

  • Glasses have prescription lenses installed.
  • The box was sealed when purchased, so this is the first use.
  • I’ve tried multiple cables and wall sockets.
  • Power button on the glasses is the slide type, not press-and-hold.

Issue Summary:

The glasses appear completely dead, and it seems like either the battery is in a deep-dead state or there’s a hardware defect preventing charging/detection. The case itself is functioning normally.

Has anyone experienced this issue with Meta Gen 2 glasses? Any suggestions or confirmed fixes would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

    Hi there Ahmewa8

We saw you were having some issues with your brand new Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer Gen 2s. That's not an experience we want you to have, so wanted to offer some advice.

A red LED on the glasses case would indicate a charging error. In this case, we'd recommend getting in touch with the retailer to discuss a return or exchange if this issue occurred right out of the box.

You can also contact Ray-Ban Support for further assistance, as with this being a brand new purchase it would be within the warranty period.

You can contact them using the information on this page

    We hope this helps!

I have the issue with mine too,Gen 2 only 2 months, leave it one night outside the case, when try to charge the other day, only charge 60, 61%, leave it in the case for several houra and porcentage does not increase. No power on glasses, tried every method possible to reset , even the factory reset not working.  The only way give some light that is alive is when leave in the case and push the button to put in pairing mode,  not able neither to use the case to pair anymore. Clean contacts , everything, nothing works, very frustrated at this point.  Also , I never see red light, only white on the glasses. These are my prescription glasses !!!.

  • Hey.  Today, I’m having the same issue. I tried all the resets to no avail. So frustrated!  Mine are from RayBan. I submitted a report, but no reply yet.
Have you resolved your issue with charging?

Mine was purchased with LensCrafter in SF. They said they need to receive a claim from LuxuryRayban after I submitted the issue to Rayban. As soon as I receive the letter from them, I can take it to LensCrafter, and then they will do the replacement procedure.  No way am I paying for this issue, which is clearly a battery issue with the frame, as the frame no longer charges or turns on. I spent almost $1,000 on prescription lenses.
