Microphone Not Working on RayBan Meta Glasses One Month Old

Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, and I’m hoping someone here might have a solution or similar experience.  I bought the glasses just last month, and everything worked fine initially. But recently, the microphone completely stopped working. I’ve gone through all the standard troubleshooting steps, including:  - Factory reset  - Verified microphone permissions in the Meta View app  - Tried voice commands and capture (no response)  - Cleaned the mic ports carefully  - Re-paired the glasses with my phone  - Updated all apps and firmware  - Deleted app and reinstalled   Despite all this, nothing has fixed it. I contacted Meta support, and they walked me through the same steps, but the issue remains. Audio still plays through the speakers fine, it’s only the mic that’s dead, sometimes when recording a video the sound sounds robotic and can’t understand a word. The frustrating part is I paid with Apple Cash, so I don’t have a traditional receipt, but I do have a screenshot of the transaction.  Has anyone experienced this? Did Meta replace your glasses under warranty without a printed receipt? Any tips for getting a fast replacement? Or is there a fix to this?  Thanks in advance!

I had a similar issue with the mic, and your note about the robotic sound gave me hope that I didn't damage the glasses in some way.

Found a video about going to the Device Settings for the glasses in the Meta app, go to 'Microphone toubleshooting', and turn on 'Microphone adjustment'. I did that, and there happened to be a new update that I did as well, and the mic started working again.

Not sure which fixed (the update or the settings change), but it's working again. Hope this helps and works for you as well.

  • Did you try the reset procedure with the buttons?
    - Press & Hold the capture button.
    - Slide the power button (left arm) to OFF.
    - Wait few seconds.
    - Slide the power button to ON.
    - Once the LED lights up, release the capture button.

  • Have you tried to turn off the microphoneadaption in the settings of the Meta AI App?

There is a slider that you can turn off when you are experiencing microphone issues.

      • Firstly we would ask that you check if you are on the latest software version of the app.
      • Make sure you have Meta AI turned on in the settings.
      • Ensure you have "Hey Meta" turned on in your settings.
      • Are you experiencing this issue during voice commands, calling or recording.

        Dear Meta Support Team,

Yes, my glasses are running the latest software version 19.2, and they always update automatically. However, after this last update, the Meta AI menu disappeared — this is the second issue I’m experiencing.

I am a German citizen and purchased my Ray-Ban Meta glasses in Germany before my business trip to Vietnam. I planned to use them there as a translator and multifunctional assistant, but upon arrival, Meta AI started displaying a message that this service is not supported in my region.

Frankly, I find this restriction unfair, as it limits user rights — I hope that Meta AI will function again when I return to Germany, but I need it right now in Vietnam.

As for the microphone issue, it seems unrelated to the Meta AI restriction — when I start video recording using the button, the video is recorded but there is no sound, only occasional intermittent metallic noises.

I sincerely hope that your team can help resolve both problems.

        Kind regards,

        Timur Majerle

  • Luckily my glasses were under warranty since I only had 2 weeks with them until this issue happened. So I got the replaced under the warranty, it was a hassle and took  about 2 months to get a replacement. Basically they send you a code and you have to buy them all over again using the credit when you type in the code.

  • Had this happen on my gen1 wayfarers. It would happens dm disappear periodically until it dies permanently.

I believe the issue is a short on one of the mics due to perspiration and then it causes all the mics to stop working. The sound is always the same  - a rustling metallic sound.
