Here are a few troubleshooting steps to try out:
- Make sure your phone is up to date with the current version of iOS.
- Try reinstalling the app again, and when you launch it try being connected to a different network.
Could you also let us know what the current version of iOS you are currently using/ what model of phone you have.

My iOS is 18.7.2 and my phone is iPhone 13 Pro Max.

We have a number of users reporting similar issues with Pro Max models, our engineers are currently working on this issue.
In the meantime we would like to transfer this case over to our email team, so that if our engineers are able to find further troubleshooting we can keep you updated.
To do that we would need to gather a couple of details from you:
- Your Full Name.
- Your Preferred Email.
In the meantime if you have another device you could try using that to see if you have any success.

I have the same problem with my new phone. My screen goest to a black screen when clicking either option. The image of an account to select comes up briefly then the screen goes black and is unresponsive. I'm able to pair them and hear photos being taken. Will these photos and videos be saved and accessible once the app snafu is resolved?
I've tried all the troubleshooting steps you described for the OP. iOS 26.1/17 pro max
