I know exactly what you mean! I think that's because the glasses are optimised for Instagramposts which are usually in portrait mode. 

I doubt that this is changeable by software updates since the fotochip is build this way...

The only solution I see right now is tilting your head by 90 degrees (just like your smartphone) to take landscape pictures 😅.
