Rayban MetaAI Glasses overheating when setting them up for the first time?

I bought brand new Rayban Gen2 Meta Ai glasses this weekend. My partner was setting the glasses up for the first time and within 5 mins of use the glasses overheated whilst he was doing so and connection completely stopped. Keep in mind we were inside our air conditioned home at night time. The battery went from 100% to 29% within minutes and kept draining whilst we had the glasses sitting under our air conditioning waiting for them to become usable. Do I need to send these back as faulty? They have never been used!
