Hello! I'm Meta's new Developer Community Manager.

Hello everyone! My name is Casey, and I've just come on board as the community manager for Meta's Developer forums.

I've been working with online communities now for nearly twenty years across a lot of different fields including both tech and videogames, and I'm excited to be here as part of a larger effort on the Meta side to develop the relationships that we have with the people that are building on our platform. We know that we can improve the level of Meta presence here on the Developer Forums, and addressing that is my first priority! We’re still in the process of building our support plans and processes, but are tackling these top 2 priorities right now:

  • Content clean-up: There are posts that have gone unanswered, ended up in the wrong place, or are irrelevant to the developer community. We're going to clear this stuff out first, and we'll have this place tidied up in no time. Your assistance is welcome here! As a general rule we're going to be cleaning up "bumps" and reposts, but as we get things sorted and settled please feel free to bump issues that haven't been resolved yet so we know which ones keep coming up.
  • Better and more timely answers to questions: I'm working closely with members of our teams to make sure that questions get answers in a timely fashion. We already have a lot of Meta subject matter experts that read and respond to questions here, but we want to build on that by improving our tracking and response process. We'll share more about what you can expect going forward as we finalize our plans.

After we’ve locked those down, we’ll dig in more to improve how we can better share information that you need (e.g., release notes), engage live about topics that matter to you (e.g., live product Q&As), and learn more from our team and experts at the company (e.g., live education sessions). If you have ideas or suggestions, we encourage you to share them with us in the replies here!

I'm excited to work with you all to build this community—the support, enthusiasm and friendliness here is infectious.

Please post any questions or comments in the replies, and I'll respond to them as we go!

    I have not violated any terms, and I would like you guys to restore my account immediately.
     
    Please do not redirect me to any online forms that no longer work.

      I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble! Unfortunately I don't have any access to your Instagram account on my end. You'll have to reach out to Instagram support using https://help.instagram.com/. The forum here is for people who want to develop for Meta's various VR and MR products. If you're using your Instagram account to log in to Meta Quest, you can also look at the Consumer Support link I provided above!

    Hello! I try to creata e developer account but it claims that I am using too "new device"... I have tried different browsers and devices but nothing helps. Please help me with this, im in a hurry!

  • GLAD to see someone here.

    I have a web nit. It is *VERY* difficult to see new posts. The top level page says that the newest post is 'yesterday'. Yet when you click on it shows the oldest (years old) posts first. Is there a way to see the newest first?

      Also I neglected to respond to this one but if you're referring to the replies underneath a topic (like we're in right now), there's a sorting dropdown at the top of the comments list: 

      You can also adjust your default settings for a lot of this sort of thing by clicking on your profile picture and selecting "My Settings", then "Preferences." There are a ton of customization options for how the forums display data in that menu!

        I have no such drop down for a new topic. Just a reply button. It just shows me report a problem, mute, follow, bookmark,  ...

         

         

  • A note about "Support Portal' -> 'Submit a Request'. 100% of the times I have posted to that page, I get an email telling me to use the MQDH to post issues. The people on that page don't want technical questions or issues. Not sure what they do.

      To clarify on this, that support portal isn't the place where we field technical problems or bugs. That support portal is the place to get help if you're having issues with the platform—for instance if you need guidance around regulatory requirements or platform policy. If (for example) you received some sort of a policy violation for your app and you're confused about how to proceed, that's the right place to reach out.

  • On some topics (Presence Platform for example). There is no way to create a new thread. You can only reply to existing posts. Are those closed?

      As far as this issue is concerned, are you referring to this thread? I'm looking over it now and it doesn't appear to be closed to new replies, everything appears to be set up to work the same as the thread we're in now. Could you share a screenshot or video of the behavior you're seeing?

        You guys have web pages all over the place. I have no idea which ones support what.

        And I should not have to guess  or be told to go some place else.

        I looks to me to be a place for technical bugs with the presence sdk/platform. Yet there is no way to start a bug report. I can only reply to existing posts.
