Name of app in App Lab can't be used for the app name in the Store

Hello,

We released our app in App Lab with name "XYZ".

Now, we also want to release the same app with the same name "XYZ" in the Store but it says there "You already have an app with this name on the same platform."

This is not correct as we have no app with the same name on the plattform Store. We only have the app with the same name on the plattform App Lab.

What can I do now to get the app with the same name as the released app has in the platform App Lab into the platform Store?

  • I don't have an exact answer, but your question was similar to one I asked about 2 weeks ago. The question was: if my game was purchased on App Lab, but then the app was promoted to the store, would it show as already being purchased?

I'm not sure your exact reason for having the exact same name, but I'm wondering if you mean for the App Lab version to be the demo version of the game. I discovered the other day that apps can be renamed any time, so for me, I renamed my App Lab game to GameNameDemo, and I created a second one just GameName. The GameName one will eventually be the store version (that is my hope anyway). In my case I want customers who bought the game in App Lab to still own it when the game is sold through the store.

Where do you change the name? Is the Name under App Metadata the app name for the name under the "My Apps" overview?

  • It looks like it's part of the app metadata section under Name. When I renamed my app the change went into affect right away, however I hadn't submitted to App Lab yet. Let us know if it works for you!

They don't make it very obvious, but select the game by clicking on the name, not the version.
