9 years agoObvious Functions in Home seriously need adding ASAP
When are the important stuff we ask for coming?...
DISABLE ASW
SUPER SAMPLING PIXELS
CHANGE INSTALL DIRECTORY (can only be done upon installing Home latest Runtime - I had to use Runtime 0.7 Install just to bypass the daft SSE4.2 cpu check so now I can use my CV1 with my Dual Quad 3GHz Xeon which you constantly tell me ain't compatible - Bull! If it works then do not con us into buying new systems!)
ALLOW MOVING INSTALLED PROGRAMS WITH NEW PATHS
CREATE SHORTCUT RUN PATHS TO OTHER APPS (at present we need workarounds)
Yes I run the old install 0.7 just to use my £600 investment in VR with my perfectly running Xeon computer. It even updates all Beta and Released versions. Even though you know this workaround you still choose to hide the old Install program so that others are forced to buy new computers. When will Oculus cease to become such a dark hard sales market company and mature with respect? Plus add the most very obvious list above?

- Anonymous+ obviously rid that daft SSE4.2 check which prevents installation of our investment on old but capable computers!
At the very least simply acknowledge and be honest about this and do provide a download link for Runtime 0.7 for all others to know about and not waste their money and time in trying to install on old systems which actually run just as well as an i5! - AnonymousDISABLE ASW: I actually only require to disable this for Elite Dangerous but this IS the best voted game after all.
- nanguExpert ProtegeCan't agree more about that list!! The first two are essential settings for users who don't run Windows as Administrators; that, or allow debug tool to run under a normal user account.
Thanks! - Protocol7Heroic ExplorerAllowing refunds was a good move that makes the Oculus store more competitive with Steam. But there is one thing that still makes me reluctant to buy a game on the Oculus platform.
Steam allows you to move already installed games to new locations. This is an important feature for people using smaller SSDs. It is a fairly basic feature that has been requested ever since the early days of Oculus Home. The fact this hasn't been fixed yet makes me lack confidence in Oculus Home.
SteamVR also has easily accessible settings to disable or enable their version of ASW and ATW and a slider for setting supersampling. I use ApollyonVR's excellent Oculus Tray Tool to do this and I know the Oculus debug tool allows it but at this stage Oculus Home should include these options. If Oculus does not want people to change it unnecessarily it could be placed in an advanced options menu with a disclaimer.
I would very much like Oculus to succeed but the lack of progress in developing Oculus Home is sure to impact sales on the platform. I had hoped by this stage Oculus Home would at least match the functionality of its main competitor. - AnonymousWell, are Oculus staff simply embarrassed to even comment?
- AnonymousI've seen e.g. Badoink website used in Virtual Desktop needing a workaround (on youtube) to add an icon to launch it. I don't bother with that myself but shortcuts to any APP should be possible. I haven't tried much but did see external games e.g. Project Cars2 got a shortcut which I bought in Steam.
Basically, since seeing Samsung Odyssey and their homepage and improved resolution I just want to sell my Rift. Oculus is way way behind. We don't even need sensors at all. All they missed out on is adding wireless!
