4K playback on DK2?
I've tried contact the dev of MAXVR but haven't heard back so I thought I would field this question here. I have a very successful 4k render ( 4096x2048 per eye ) Stereoscopic render but have yet to obtain smooth playback at this resolution on the DK2 with MAXVR. I have tried a variety of bitrates with what seems to be the choice codec for this format ( h265) but still have yet to crack this nut. The biggest issue is that i can get relatively smooth 4k playback but the moment I turn my head with the DK2 on the frame rate drops enough to be sub par.
Anyone have any thoughts? There is a very noticeable difference between 2k and 4k so I would love avoid 2k.
the system I am rolling is:
Dual Xeon (E52640@2.5GHz)
Geforce GTX 980
PCIE SSD ( what the video is currently playing off of, I forget the model )
64 GB of RAM
thanks!

- genetransferExplorerMy player will be out next week, pm me your email if you would like to try it out when available (before going live) - (no codecs required all formats and screen types).
I can't compare really as I only have a gtx650 and am curious to see the performance of my player on a high end machine, but I can get 2k at ~75fps. However I have no idea how well the new cards perform in comparison - can't wait to see though. - c1Honored GuestYes I very much would. I will shoot you a pm.
I have the capacity to turn out high quality pre rendered 4k+ content for the Oculus my only stopping block is the issue in this thread and it's only an issue because I'm not motivated to do anything less. - genetransferExplorerno problem. yes things really do look so nice at that res, so I'm very interested to see if the player will make a difference, or if it's just that's it's built on the latest runtimes (0.6.0.1).
