4K Video player with spherical wrapping.
Evening all,
We're trying to work with some 4k 360 video content, and were scratching our heads as far as options go.
Unity works great for interactive work, but anything higher than 2k gives unacceptable frame lag.
VR Player doesn't have frame rate issues, but the ghosting/tearing is a real headache.
OcuPlayer doesn't seem to work with spherical mapping.
Are there any other options out there? A point in the right direction would be massively appreciated.
Cheers.

- tlopesHonored GuestYou may need to write a custom program to do exactly what you want it to do. I'd wager that most developers aren't thinking about drawing 4k spherical video when they do their tests :)
- ZeroWaitStateHonored GuestIm interested how you tackle this I had a go at the "making viewer" redbull type spherical videos and I think they have potential when the res is increased dramatically. I use them quite regularly to show case the rift and there is very little adverse motion sickness effects from participants, especially when it is base jumping and plane acrobatics etc.
The biggest thing I noticed was the lack of stereo, you do get perspective cues but there is just something fundamentally missing.
I have been trying to envisage a camera rig that would allow stereo spherical image capture but it seems you would always see the other camera rig. Unless we can do some really trick on the fly image processing to blank out the alternate camera. are you planning on doing stero 4 k spherical video in the longer run ?
I wonder if there are some options using fiber optics like they use in endo-scopes etc. where the capture hardware can be a distance aways so it fills up a lot less of the field of view.
