A couple of ideas for games
I have two. I'll never make these but what the hell.
First one:
After reading Oculus' best practices guide I was struck with a game idea when they mentioned the problem of clipping. In VR you wouldn't want players to be able to clip through walls since they can now move their head wherever they want but stopping them from moving their head through a wall when in reality their head is moving would cause a disconnect and could create uncomfortable gameplay. They suggested using that "problem" to your advantage and maybe allow the player to clip into walls or other parts of the environment but add a ripple effect or something when they do. This one thing got me thinking... I'm always watching science stuff and I'm fascinated by time and space and what we perceive as reality. The idea of parallel dimensions all around us that we can't see... what if that was a gameplay mechanic? What if the player could lean and "ripple" through the environment to see into other dimensions that exist around us? Maybe the story takes place in the future where the technology to do this has been invented and the player actually needs to maneuver into other realities by leaning into the environment to peer into or even visit other dimensions to get clues to the story and progress in the game. You're in one place but you never know what is on the other side of any given wall, ceiling or floor. A different time, a different reality, a parallel universe?
Idea #2:
You've been kidnapped. You awaken, tied to a chair, on the back of a truck. You discover yourself being dragged off the truck and up onto a platform, still tied to the chair. You feel yourself being pulled backwards and realize you've been placed in a massive sling shot contraption. This person keeps pulling you further and further back and you frantically look around realizing you are about to be launched off into the air, over the woods and into who knows what. Finally you stop being pulled back and he leans around you to whisper something in your ear (it can be different every time you play) and then you are released. You are sent, strapped to this chair, hurling off into the sky, over the woods and the land below. How far you fly can be random but I figure for dramatic effect the player can hit a mountain and explode. I'm thinking this one could be very unpleasant for people so various gameplay settings could be added for the player to choose from before they start. "A Walk In The Park" could be a nice, slow fling through the air where the player simply gets the same feeling as flying whereas "Guess What I Had For Lunch" at the other end of the spectrum could be something totally insane like the craziest roller coaster. Either way, you're still hitting that mountain.

Being thrown through the air would be a great starter tech-demo.
The ability to look through walls/dimensions is interesting. Maybe some kind of maze where you can look through walls would serve as a good demo for it. As for actual gameplay, I'm sure someone could use it in a pretty creative way.
