It is close but not good enough for the S4.

That Toshiba says MDDI to MIPI. You would want a DVI, HDMI, Displayport to parallelRGB chip and a parallelRGB to MIPI chip.

That one is for a MIPI CSI. Cgpnz's display is MIPI DSI(4 lane). Are those two standards compatible? On the MTBS3D forum Msat, OzOnE2k10 and others thought of using the solomon ssd2828(which is parallelRGB to MIPI DSI) in a 2 chip HDMI->parallelRGB-to-ssd2828 bridge circuit. I haven't heard anything else about a possible circuit being made after updates stopped but rozsnyo was designing something similar and offered to make one if the interest was great enough.

I'm not certain what the difference is between the Innolux HJ070IA-02D (the screen that the Oculus currently uses) and the HJ070IA-02C but I'm gonna guess that it may just be the letter at the end.

is most likely wired up the exact same way as the Oculus screen.

The reason I bring this up is because I am wondering if maybe there is the possibility of just modding some stuff within the oculus to allow the use of the existing connectors and boards. Maybe a LVDS to MIPI converter like this company says they are coming out with soon http://www.q-vio.com/lvds.html
I am not a super electronic wizard by any means so I am not sure if it is even possible or what kind of things you would have to do to change around the EDID and all that fun stuff.


And what about using an RGB to MIPI converter instead of an HDMI to MIPI? Is there some issue with using an analog signal that I am not aware of as far as effecting the end result?

It's a 5.5" 1920x1080 screen. Is that a MIPI connector?

That LG 5.5" panel you linked is the most likely candidate for the HD prototype Oculus has been showing. You can check Oculus' twitter to see what I'm talking about. It looks Identical. On panelook it says it's MIPI(4 lane). I've actually been waiting for awhile for a HDMI-MIPI circuit to buy that LCD and make a another DIY or hack my devkit.

If you see my previous post you can see I mentioned that solomon ssd2828. It will need to go into a HDMI-MIPI circuit using another ic like the TFP401A (hdmi/DVI-RGB) for example.

that LVDS-MIPI would be awesome but what's the cost? when is soon? a couple weeks? months? a year? That would be a great chip I think though, thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Wow, i missed that one. Good catch. Their total solution sounds like a costly, very large circuit. We need something small/low power/cost, that would fit next to or behind the panel. I'm not going to pursue them but if anyone does, good luck.
