Advice help pls for student demo live streaming setup
Hi my son wants a rig that would live stream HD quality (i.e. not 4k) of 180' to 270' for sports at his university but we don't have pots of money.
We don't know much about what works today, owe do have a gearvr and dk2 for games so know what its like on the 'receiving' end of the content.
Is there any advice on what would be a great fun setup with good frame rates and acceptable immersive quality with the minimal reasonable number of gopros or mobius type cameras and would these handle sound ok too?
any advice appreciated.

David.

Videostitch was showing live stitching but you'd still need to compress and transmit and will need an app on the Gear or DK2 to reliably display the images and avoid latency issues.
If you went with a 180 fisheye could eliminate the stitch portion. - davidmorrisburnHonored Guestthanks, ok we will have to do offline watching.
for 3d would we be better off with gopros with fisheyes or is there a comparative imitation/similar camera that is known as a cheaper way? bearing in mind we would like to be able to sync the cameras and have live monitoring output that could be fed for streaming in the future.
appreciate any advice.

David. - AnonymousThe GoPros currently can not be reliably synced. GoPro 3+ had a stereo cord for syncing 2 cameras and others have made specialized cable/card systems to try to make it happen. GoPro has said they will have a sync option (at least for their own rig), likely end of year.
There's really not much in the way of options currently, especially for lower costs. The only streaming versions I've seen in operation have been this rig http://freedom360.us/shop/f360-broadcaster/
There are cheaper ripoff versions of GoPros or other types of cameras.
There's the Ricoh Theta that shoots full 360 but is 15fps and low res. Like most it requires a post process to stitch images.
There's have been some kick starters such as https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bu ... r-everyone that have started to appear.
Best bet is to research on google
