Alienware 17 laptop with gtx 980m not working 0.7

I just bought an alienware 17 laptop with a gtx980 m. It has the 0.7 occulus installed, and its fully plugged in. Even detects the display in the occulus runtime. When i click show demo scene however the rift just stays with its orange light and black screen... and as for whats on the screen ... the "mirrored" thing on my monitor shows nothing but a white screen. Any ideas on how i can get this thing to wokr?
