An idea for positional tracking
Hello everyone.
I have been thinking about how to create a nice positional tracking
system to be able to place the Oculus Rift in a room type environment.
I'm far from any expert in this type of area so pls feel free to trample down my idea :D
What i suggest is a type of triangulation using passive Rfid transmitters with antennas.
Place 4 of these close to the corners in the room. Have the Rift’s box “thingy” activate these
transmitter tags using the computers power and radio. Then have a receiver on the googles calculating the time it takes to pick up each signal and bam u have a location.
This in my mind would work quite nice since there is no power need for each Rfid node
and the radio can travel through at least small object without hassle. This makes it easy setup
for a mainstream user. There are of course some problems like range but that should not be
a problem, i think there are lots of Rfid tags that can handle 5x5 Meters. Then there is the accuracy, i have not a clue about this one. Probably i'm missing something here but what?

There has been some research into tracking peoples movement through a room just using reflected wifi signals. In that example the person does not need to wear any special equipment and my not even know they are being tracked.
In a controlled environment where you can position transmitters and receivers wherever you like, it should be possible to get accurate and fast position tracking. - geekmasterProtege

Yes, like I said above, "there are threads here for a number of different RF postition sensing methods":

Notice that both active and passive (wifi-based) RF position tracking have been discussed in these forums. And now we have discussed RFID tracking too. - markspend01Honored GuestHey Guys well i think that every one passes good information about ideas of professional tracking.Recently i search a site on Google which related to that post.Must visit that url:
