Anyone using Autodesk Stingray?

Hi all,

Who is using autodesk stingray?

  • I downloaded it and tried it for a few hours. There are some things I like about it, but it seems very bare-bones at the moment and not nearly as fleshed out as Unity or Unreal (as you would expect from a 1.0 version).

Sadly, their VR implementation is based on 0.5.0.1 and I wasn't able to run it since I'm on the 0.7 runtime right now. I'll probably downgrade so I can give it a shot, but this was a little disappointing.

I do think it has potential, and don't want to write it off until I can dig deeper with it. They have a free trial, so definitely give it a shot if you're interested.
  • So I went back to the 0.6.0.1 runtime to test this. It does basically work for the most part. Rendering and distortion and everything seemed correct. However, I did notice some sort of latency. My guess is that the code was doing a smoothing on the head-tracking orientation. It was subtle, but I felt maybe a 2 frame smoothing. I didn't look at the project files, so maybe this can be modified and fixed, not sure.
  • Interesting - thanks for the info. Anyone else having the latency issues?
  • Hey, I am jumping on this forum a bit later. I did just get my hands on an official release through my company and have the same latency issue. I don't get this with any other VR platform through my machine. I would be interested to know if anyone has found a fix yet? Cheers.
