Anyone Using DirectX 10?

Are any developers here using DIrectX 10 and relying on our SDK support for Direct 10?

From what I understand, in almost all cases, you can use DirectX 11 with feature levels to support older Dx10 hardware on the same Windows platforms. So people should be covered with just using Dx11.

Any thoughts on this?

  • I'm not. I will be using OpenGL and DirectX 11.

MaterialDefender (Ralf) is probably using DirectX 10 for parts of VorpX.
  • At this stage of performance requirements it's doubtful anyone would opt to use such a dated api version given how any hardware capable of truly utilizing even a DK1 should be DX11 compatible.
  • 9 and 11 are fine. does the rift support any older versions of directx? It would suck for people that spend all their free money on a Rift to not be able to play anything with it on their old computers :)
  • If you're not running at least DX9.. then you shouldn't be purchasing a Rift headset, but instead, a new computer.

All operating systems (except vista) and hardware capable of running dx10 can also run dx11.

My Graphics card allows for dx10 but not dx11. I think you may have ment dx10.1

Your video card may not support directx 11 features like tessellation, but it can run the directx 11 api. It is fully backwards compatible with dx10 hardware.
