Are anybody using CryENGINE 3? And why not?
With Unity you need to fork up 1500 to even be able to create anything usefull. With UDK you get a great tool and all features "for free", but it's not the latest one. But with CryENGINE you get a great tool and it is the latest one and it's just as "free" as the UDK - and it has native support for the Rift!
I've been looking at videos for the UDK and they are great. But wanted to try CryENGINE simply because it's been naggin me that the UDK is "not the latest thecnology". However, learning CryENGINE seem problematic as there is no good videos. Only how to do this and that, not a course as with UDK (for example from 3D Buzz).
Is this why people don't use CryENGINE? Because the documentation and course materials are lacking?

- ivanhawkesHonored GuestI just pre-ordered my DK2 today, nice timing! I've spent a lot of time with the camera code in CryEngine of late so I am pretty sure I could hook these up quickly enough once I get the SDK and something to test it with. It should hopefully just be a matter of hooking up signals from the DK and matching them to camera movements in CryEngine.
- mrnitroHonored GuestOrdered my DK2 too and cannot wait to try it with Cryengine as well. I was reading some other people were working on it already, and this :

you had any luck? - spyroExpert ProtegeOculus Support seems to be extremely buggy so far. And it seems, that it is still not really useable 8 month after the first announcement: http://www.crydev.net/viewtopic.php?f=355&t=114108&sid=277c26630a07b7f6203269f94376a679&start=45 (which wasn't official, either).
- HeadClotExplorerWaiting for Engine as a Service and getting my Dev kit 2 before I attempt to use cryengine. :)
- Beta84Honored GuestHello,
are there any news about the integration of the DK2 for CryEngine ? - Dracula2999Honored GuestI just want DK2 support CE3,I spend lots of time to learn it for Oculus
- Jason187781Honored GuestCrytek really needs to get their act together. Vr is going to be a big part of the future of gaming and experience based projects. I have been using CryEngine for years and I feel like I may have to move on to Unity or Unreal in the future because of a lack of support on the Rift.... It's a shame because I do think CryEngine is awesome and personally invested a lot of time on it....
Check out my Mod below, I spent some serious time on Tridef trying to convert it to a Oculus ready mod but it just doesn't work well at the moment.. :(
Come on guys!!! What are you playing at??? If a 3rd party bit of software like TriDef can almost pull it off... What's your excuse!!!???
Jason187781 - cyberealityGrand ChampionGame looks great! Would love to try in VR. Hopefully the CryEngine support will improve.
- budwheizzahExplorerLast I heard Crytek are hurting bad. Probably not going to be a good pick if you're counting on support.
Rumors of being bought out by Wargaming, making their engine public (surprising if you ask me), release of a generic MMO war fighting game, an engine that demands from the GPU while delivering only a slightly ever-so-slightly better result... Crytek may actually be cryin'.
Would be nice to see and I'm not certain WHICH rumors are true but one thing I can say is thngs seem unusual over there this year; actually since the release of their last engine. - johanpruys46Honored GuestI am using Cryengine.
First of all The Cryengine is a very powerfull tool!!
It is also a very difficult tool.
With blood sweat and tears It is possible to make a game on your own (I did it).
You pay10 bugs a monts for a multy-million dollar piece of software (which is a bargain).
Other engines are free but you pay for extra contend (frogs, birds, squirels, vehicles, fireworks etc etc).
The Cryengine has VR support now!!
So....
that being said.
What are you waiting for :)
Greetings and love
