Avoid Delta Six and other devices by Kotkin Enterprises

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up about the latest antics from Kotkin Enterprises (developer of the Delta 6). After 6 months of no contact and almost 2 years of no shipment to Kickstarter backers, they are now trying to extort more money from those of us that backed the Kickstarter. This is despite the fact that retail sales are already proceeding and shipping. Needless to say, most of the backers are refusing to give them more money as this is a violation of Kickstarter's TOS. The fact that they admit to having them in stock, but will not ship until we give them more money is a huge slap in the face to Kickstarter backers that have been waiting patiently for almost 2 years and watched retail sales proceed, despite having no contact from Kotkin since August of last year (and that wasn't a production update, just a link to an online news article). Now they want 30 more dollars per controller for US orders and 70 for International. Also of note is that in the Kickstarter, shipping was explicitly included in the original cost. So, in conclusion, this company is full of lies and deceit, avoid giving them money until Kickstarter backers orders are fulfilled without further cost or delay.

  • what a joke.
So at best its a cumbersome xbox controller and at worst an unplayable mess.
  • When I saw it, I thought the same thing. When you are designing a controller like that for a fixed screen, there's not much to work with. My controller I'm working on can work with a fixed screen, but is designed for a VR headset that moves as the controller moves fixing the awkward aiming. Relative aiming when you have no dedicated center means you either have to have a hell of a deadzone or some mechanism that ensures that the relative center is easy to find and repeat (which with gyro drift would be a big issue to solve).

Unique idea, but evidently not play-tested by anyone for any period of time. New controls do take time to get used to, but this concept has flaws you could fly a plane through.
  • Thank you for posting that Delta Six Video, it made me very proud of the one I made, which works 10x better than that thing does.
