Brushless gimbal stabilization for stereo Rift videos
On the Oculus subreddit I have a new post about a brushless gimbal stabilizer rig I have built for my Gopro/Sunex stereo 180 video camera

- mediavrProtegeHere is another short movie shot with the stabilizer -- with my rig held over my head. It works great for stabilizing pitch but it needs a little more torque to be rock steady with roll so I will get another, stronger, motor for the roll axis.
A typical afternoon scene at an Australian hotel ;) -- they are playing a gambling game -- called "two up" here

In VR Player you need to set:
Media/Format/Side by Side
Media/Projection/Dome
Tools/Settings/Display/Horizontal offset to 60 (or to suit)
Tools/Settings/Display/Camera/Fov to 95 - mediavrProtegeI installed a stronger (heavier) motor for the roll axis and now it works with stronger action. Here is fast walking (one camera, unprocessed, unsharpened Raw) -- it shows the cameras stay level, even if it is not affecting yaw or up and down walking motions. But levelness is an important thing for comfortable Rift viewing.

and without WarpStabilizer

WarpStabilizer is so effective here because it only has yaw to stabilize and with level equirectangular (or cylindrical) frames yaw stabilization can be obtained with simple lateral image shifts.
