Building a Rift projector...
One thing that might be useful in developing software for the Rift, especially in playing around with the distortion shader, would be to build a projector system that lets you send the projected image through the Rift lens in order to end up with a projected image that should be what the user sees after both the software distortion and the Rift lens distortion have been applied. It would give you a much better mechanism for determining the effect of the distortion coefficients used, allowing you to actually measure the curvature of a reference image with a straightedge, instead of eyeballing it, so to speak.
Has anyone given any thought to what kind of calculations this setup would require?
