Can't make Oculus run on Nvidia card

I am running on a laptop with two video cards:

1. NVIDIA Quadro K2100M
2. Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600

I'm creating a program based on the SDK. After calling "ovr_Create" I can see that the returned LUID refers to Intel card, while I would like it to run on NVIDIA card instead.

Are there settings (or APIs) to tell Oculus use NVIDIA adapter?

This sounds like a pretty basic question, but I could not find an answer in the forums so far...

Thanks,
Michael

  • Intel GPUs are not supported and Quadro cards are mostly untested and not recommended. In addition laptops have loads of problems and typically don't work at all. Very sorry.
  • Thanks for an answer. Generally Oculus works fine on my hardware, and I could successfully run all the demos. That's just when using an SDK, I can see that the Intel adapter is being selected. The question is - can I somehow force Oculus to use certain adapter - via configuration, SDK etc.?
  • So you can tell the Nvidia driver to use "High powered GPU" in the Nvidia Control Panel. This does not always work though, especially when you are using the external video port. In addition, some (rare) laptops allow you to disable the Intel GPU in BIOS but this is not typically an option.

Any luck in getting the K2100M to work?

I'm hoping to use my laptop with this same card to watch 3D movies on my Rift
