Chromatic aberration: an observation.
I've had my DK2 for a couple of days now, and the CA at the edges of the screen when playing (for instance) HL2 is pretty strong (more noticeable than DK1 primarily because the screen itself is more saturated. But I've noticed that it's only there when I *look* at the edges of the screen. If I bring up the black-and-white HL2 menu and state straight ahead, there's little or no CA in my peripheral vision.
This suggests that the CA correction is working, but is not taking into account how the eye swivels, moving the pupil relative to the lens. Obviously there's no eye tracking so it can't be perfect, but if the CA correction at every pixel on the screen were based on the assumption that the eye is actually looking at that pixel, it might improve matters. It would be a little worse in the current best-case of staring straight ahead, but a lot better when glancing sideways.

- datenwolfHonored GuestI don't have my DK2 yet, but I'm already developing my own tools toward it. Now here's the thing: I'm a physicist doing research on FDML lasers and OCT, which involves a lot of eye interface optics. And while in our systems we don't suffer from chromatic abberation, I've got all those geometrical optics diagrams of how eyes interacts with lenses in my head and I was wondering for some time, inhowfar an off-axis position of the pupil would skew the abberation. Your observations empirically confirm what I've inferred from my theoretical considerations on the subject matter.
