Cyberith Virtualizer ODT
As far as i can tell, the Cyberith Virtualizer hasn't been mentioned here yet so i thought id just mention it in case people had missed out.
They put up a website this weekend:
http://www.cyberith.com
And there is a thread on mtbs3d:
http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=140&t=17954
Looks promising as far as i can tell, but i also look forward to seeing the Viiwok.

Of course. So what does this offer that the successful Omni doesn't offer? - KaTsuoo1Explorer
So what does this offer that the successful Omni doesn't offer?
The difference is really that the support ring can be moved up and down, it is something I think the Omni could use. In the Omni you need to lean over in order to crouch, which doesn't seem like a very natural way of doing it. However, it might not be very comfortable to keep up the support ring yourself. - lucsasakiHonored GuestJan was also thinking of maybe adding a seat option to the harness so it'd be a toss up between crouching or sitting. Another Virtuix strong point is that since it has no moving parts it's very durable. Virtuix is obviously better, and I'm not saying that cause I'm a backer or anything *whistles innocently*.

First off, i just posted about it, i am not advocating it. Also, i thought you might be referring to some other design since there are some significant design differences to the Omni. You could also say that the Omni is much like the WizDish in some ways etc.
That aside, i am interested in it for the following reasons:
* EU based ( = reduced shipping cost and customs/VAT, my primary reasons for not backing the Omni ). The omni currently costs $430 + $200-250 shipping (scandinavia), add to that a customs fee (+$30) and 25% VAT (+$158 assuming shipping is $200) then you end up paying around $820 (exact amount depending on shipping cost). The only way around that would be a EU based distribution center like for the Rift.
* Not walking up a slope like on the Omni ( or if it is, then it appers to be less of a slope ).
* "Real" crouching
* Currently working with socks, and the plan is to have a some kind of thingy you can pull over a regular shoe judging from their FAQ.
* Support for sitting ( though that might also be added to the Omni? )
* Support for walking backwards (not sure how that works on the Omni?).
Anyway, the more options the better right? - ZikejiHonored Guest

The support ring can be moved up and down in the final version of the omni (don't ask for a source though, but I'm pretty certain I read it somewhere). - ziphnorExpert ProtegeSurprised to see how little interest there is in this vs. the Viiwok considering that cyberith seems much further ahead with development. Just noticed that he will be at gamescom 2013:

The Omni's support ring can only move up and down to be adjusted for your height. Not during play according to the videos and discussions I have seen and read. - CalanarHonored GuestAnd it made it to Gamescon
