Desktop overlay
Hi,
First post so please bear with me. I've searched the forums but not found an answer to this, so here goes..
What I think is the one weakness of the Rift is having to move the HMD away from my eyes to click on menus, etc., in other programs (and that affect what I am looking at). Is there any possibility of fading in a transparent version of another application so that menus can be selected etc., and then fade it out?

- I'm not sure I understand what you are saying.
Are you asking about using Windows on the Rift? Or about menus in games?

I'm not a developer but am working with someone who is.
As an example, if I am using the Rift to view a flight sim but have the Flight Management System open in a different window I have to take off the Rift to make changes to the FMS and then put on the Rift again. If I could press a key / button and have the FMS appear in the Rift it would be great.
Its just a thought.

Hugh - I am also trying to create a HUD for the rift using sensor data from a remote vehicle. Looking at creating a UI or cheating by shifting the windows around to fit the info in. The downside is I will be sacrificing the video feed for the displayed information. I have also been told that there will be video sync issues when having the windows overlayed. Not much help now but I'll post back as it develops.
