Direct mode issue with DK2?

I've been having a problem where whenever I enable direct mode, only a few games seem to work (that from what I understand are built with the 0.4 SDK). For whatever reason the display is not outputted...

did you try flipping the screen? by default it is in portrait mode, but it should be mirrored landscape.

edit:
Btw most demos only work in extended mode.
