DK2 and LAPTOP

Hi, I need to run my demonstrations on a laptop. My config :

i7-4700MQ (2,4 GHz) , a NVIDIA GT 740 M and 4Go ram. But my OS is windows 8. When I work on a destop PC there is no problem with my UNITY demos. But with my laptop, amost all colors have desappeared, red becomes blue etc... I would like to run in extend mode but its impossible to rotate screen in windows 8 !!! and "Irotate" application doesnt fix it ! So, I cant use my DK2 as an other screen !

Please help me to find a solution !

  • This is nonsense, you can rotate your Monitor in Windows 8. Just install a nVidia-Driver.

Make sure your Rift isn't set up as a clone or duplicate of the laptop monitor. Perhaps you could post a screenshot of your Display control panel?

done, so as you can see, with the three options, there's no way of changing my screen's rotation !
  • I don't see the DK2 listed as a display. Have you enabled Extended mode in the Oculus display settings? Right click on the Oculus eye in your task menu to find the option.

Maybe a conflict between your Intel HD chipset and your Nvidia card ?
Seems you have both. Maybe the Intel HD is used instead of the GeForce.

Hi, I've put 3 new pictures with the DK2 connected to my laptop. As you can see, there is no option about the screens rotation !
And, when I run demo scene in windows mode, and the DK2 in direct mode, I can't see all colors ! red become blue etc..
I guess there is a conflict between both cards. But after seeing that, I put the nvidia as default card and the problems remain !

    1/ no screen rotation
    2/ bad colors

You should be able to deactivate the Intel HD from your bios. Maybe it will help.

I have done a test and the problems remain with both cards ! I can decide whitch is the main card but nothning changes, only a worst resolution with intel's one, normal !
  • Try re-installing the latest intel driver. Initially nothing worked with my Laptop and that fixed it.
Unity Applications are still particularly cumbersome, the only way they run is extended mode, in a window and manually dragging it over to the screen. Everything else works.
Unity demos also suck for another reason. They display a big bright "Camera out of range" with a darkened screen, at the recommended distance to the camera, only if I get really close it stops, leaving me with an unusable tracking volume.
And as of yet I haven't come across a single one which runs with acceptable frame rates, while every other app runs basically smooth.
Why do so many people use this crap?
