Esenthel Engine
Hi Guys!
Just to give some heads up:
Esenthel Engine - a cross platform (Windows, Mac, Android, iOS) next-gen computer game engine
See rendering presentation - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_CkLIzjj9Q
See editor presentation - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFVNx5VXzEo
Will have full support for Oculus Rift in the coming days, devkit just arrived, now to add support for it :)
Thank you Oculus team!

- cyberealityGrand ChampionAwesome! Great news.
Please post more info when it is available. - drashHeroic ExplorerImpressive rendering demo!
- EsenthelHonored GuestHi guys!
Thanks for the warm welcome :)
Oculus Rift support in Esenthel is officially ready!
For both Windows and Mac (Linux port is on the way).
I've uploaded a YouTube video for preview here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzR_uybvt8I
You can grab a real-time demo (for Windows) from here: http://www.esenthel.com/?id=store&item=22

It runs in normal mode by default, but if you connect Oculus to it, then it switches to stereoscopic rendering.
Oculus team, if you'd like, please feel free to use the demo for your own purposes however you wish.
Many thanks! :)
Greg - drashHeroic ExplorerMan, this tech demo feels rock solid. Looks and feels really good in the Rift. I had fun looking around this one and actually would consider this a strong candidate to include in my own Rift demonstrations.
Any idea what the latency reading would be for this? Does the engine do vsync by default? (couldn't tell, didn't see any tearing but maybe I am blind)
Only feedback I could offer is that the HUD text displayed when holding down the Escape key is too far to the left, it's a little bit out of my FOV which makes it a struggle to read. Also, hitting tilde (to do a benchmark) didn't do anything.
Thanks for sharing this! - EsenthelHonored GuestHi,
Thanks a lot for your comment :) Feel free to use the demo for whatever you'd like.
The VSync by default is disabled in this demo, because it's meant to be a benchmark (measure fps).
The benchmark is activated with the tilde key, however it will start only if Oculus mode is disabled.
Please note that this demo uses extensively advanced rendering techniques, like ambient occlusion, motion blur, glow, volumetric lighting, soft shadows, realtime reflections, realtime lighting and shadowing, smaa anti aliasing, etc. and of course stereoscopic rendering :D therefore it's very GPU demanding. - geekmasterProtege

Awesome! I was very impressed by SMAA (Subpixel Morphological Antialiasing) the first time I read about it, and I have had plans to add it to my code at some point. It is closely related to super-resolution algorithms, adding detail instead of removing as happens with Antialiasing filter methods that are commonly used. Because of the higher quality using much lower overhead compared to traditional supersampling methods, I plan to try this method on my Ras Pi.

Of course, if you have the power budget, CSAA 16xQ is still a lot better, but it is nice to have lower power options for reduced hardware requirements.
I am very happy to hear that your engine uses such methods, which makes me very interested in developing with it. And seeing as SMAA is in there, it makes me wonder what other awesome goodness is buried inside your engine... I am looking forward to working with the Esenthel Engine. I see that it is about $200:

;) - EsenthelHonored GuestHi!
Yeah SMAA is great :) If you'd like you can also choose MLAA and FXAA in my engine for comparison, as I support it too, however I've noticed that SMAA gives the best results. And seeing as SMAA is in there, it makes me wonder what other awesome goodness is buried inside your engine...
Oh man, there is plenty ;) as I am working on the engine for around 14 years now :D
Feel free to check it out, it's free to try :)
I really hope that you will like it! - cyberealityGrand ChampionThis looks great. Nice job.
The only problem was the aggressive neck-model which caused me discomfort when looking around (especially up or down). - yasei_wildmanHonored GuestI looked at the engine tutorial.
This is a wonderful game engine!
I appreciate your share. :D
But, I can't run demo with Oculus Rift at Windows 8.1.
As for Oculus Rift, HDMI and USB are ending with connection.
Is anything else required? :? - yasei_wildmanHonored Guest

Sorry, I did run demo with Oculus Rift after PC restart :(
This is the first time that such a wonderful thing was seen in the Oculus Rift demonstration of the game engine! :o
Please also give me Oculus Rift support with the Mac version!
