Exo Hand Device, Feedback and input ideas.
Hi,
Since Oculus was first announced I've been thinking of ways that a user could have a good virtual input experience.
Obviously like most, Leap Motion seemed like a perfect match.
Last week I saw an article of a lego exo skeleton this guy built,
http://www.theladbible.com/articles/guy-builds-working-lego-arm-exo-skeleton
I was thinking, what if Occulus creates something like it, maybe not legos, something a bit more put together.
But only from the wrist to the fingers.
It could have:
-Slight finger tip rumble/vibration feed back when a user presses virtual 'Holographic' buttons, So developers may use render to virtual holo planes, to be used as user interfaces. Like in every sci-fi movie ever.
-It could have motion tracking that uses ir points like the occulus for better latency and precision.
-It wouldn't be a bad idea to mix it with a kinect or leap motion after the ir tracking for a extra amount of precision, a feature that can be optional.
-The main thing about thing, it would be easy to snap on to the wrists and fingers, while also allowing comfortable movement and use.
The problem With gloves is that they require more material and a user has to slip them on to cover their whole hand. With a periphial like this one is able to retain most of their actual hand while able to make quick adjustments to his exo hand device.
I don't believe this could be the end all be all input device, but I kind of believe Oculus allows for the opportunity to not just create one type of input device, but a whole array of devices that could potentially be mixed together.
For example:
-Using the Dual Shock 4 light bar to keep track of its dimensional position to render a virtual version on screen.
This would allow the player to see where his controller is without having to remove his headset.
-A keyboard skin cover, that offers the ability to track the position of each key in virtual space.

A cover like that, but one that allows a camera or some other device to track the position of a keyboards keys and presses.
Now if only the Emotiv could step up its game, maybe we could all be playing our own version of Sword Art Online XD

- TigerSlugHonored GuestHave you ever seen the Dexmo Hand? It is basically what you are describing.

There are also youtube videos on it. - novanoxHonored GuestDude that's awesome.
I hope this keeps up, they should add feedback to finger prints.
Maybe a little nub that shocks you or a mini rumble.
Something that goes off when virtual holo displays are pressed.
