Eye filters for Oculus rift !?
Hello everyone,
I know that everyone is excited for the new oculus rift but I have been thinking !? why they didn't make any eye filters at the end you will be playing for up to 3 hrs ever thought what will happen to your eyes !? I like the oculus I really think It's the new future for gaming but guys !! health is important too I only registered here to write two ideas and I really want the developers for the oculus to read my post because this is so important. The second idea, why they didn't make the oculus device works wirless don't tell me they can't with a little bit work they could now that the ''virtuix omni'' is here it's a virtual reality device that works with oculus allow you to walk jump and run but it's hard when you use it with wires so oculus really should make their device works wireless.
Anyway, thank you guys for reading my post and replying if you did :D I probably won't get back to the forums because I just said what I wanted to say to the developers take care think about it and have fun.

- raidho36ExplorerWhat is your concern about filters, exactly? Those ridiculous gimmic CRT "filters" that don't do shit, I presume. None of the common mobile display devices would radiate any sort of light that would be anywhat hazardous. I don't know if there was ever display that would produce hazardous radiation, because they're designed to be safe in the first place.
It won't be wireless because, with current tech, wireless data channels are nowhere near required bandwidth. It requires designing a specific radio device optimized for the Rift. I beleive there would be such, in form of a wireless adapter - there's at least one in development, and there's a bunch of readily available (sub-par) solutions. But the Rift itself will be wired for substantional period of time. - GuspazHonored GuestWhy would they put filters into the thing? What exactly would they filter out?
- MorpheoxHonored GuestThis screen filters scams really piss me off, they are the homeopathy of technology.

Agreed. Pushing wireless onto the Rift development is a terrible idea. It could absolutely annihilate the final product.
1. To get a 1080+ image over a wireless connection fast, you're gonna have to compress that shit. A lot. That means losing a ton of information and image quality. People rave about 4k on YouTube not knowing that image dimensions and bitrate are hugely separate factors. Rest assured those 4k videos have had 3 quarters of their data sucked out to make them streamable, which means more motion artifacts and a hell of a lot less detail.
2. Compressing is computing, and computing takes time, even when it's "live". Oculus wants to get photon-to-pixel latency down to 30ms because it's important that head and game movement are synchronized, but you'd completely negate this by smacking on a good half second worth of image compression and transmission time. Hell, half a second is being optimistic. - NevolmonHonored GuestThese run-on sentences are making my brain hurt.
