Yeah the software needs to be improved by someone with the know how. Another issue was how to get them working in "tandem" (nothing fancy for now, just linked physically). There was indeed a design that was going for a kick starter and looked pretty cool. It didn't make it's kick starter unfortunately. The prototypes they showed off looked cool and appeared to be pieces of a chopped up Sharpshooter into reconfigured into the rig they showed. The THINGY! is more or less the same idea only MUCH easier and cheaper to make then something like the chopped up prototype one.
Onto the software side.. yes it's more or less in a proof of concept phase right now. It's impressive for what was probably only 1 or 2 people tinkering around. I'm sure there are people here or there that have tinkered on stuff but for the most part it's been stagnate. I hope that the THINGY! sparks some new interest as its easy and cheap to make and with a little development could be a viable motion controller. The move is already a great device and the navigation controllers are top notch as well. Now you can easily attach them together and get to work on making improvements on the software. Check it out if your interested.
