future components for dk2

There is no intention for the DK2 to be upgradeable.


But I expect the community to find a way to place a new screen in the unit.
4k screen with same dimensions/input as current DK2 screen = homebrew mod for sure.

will be great if oculus sold only the screen for dk2, if this improvement in image quality

Sorry, the screen was not designed to be replaced.

Even if someone figured out a mod/hack, it won't be officially supported and will void any warranty.

You do want to buy the CV, maybe there will even be a DK3 shortfly after CV for future things. Do not expect anything from the kits, they are what they are inteded to. Even if you upgrade the screen the engine will probably identify you as a DK2 and adjust. At least there would still be problems.

There were screen mods for DK1 and they were a mess. The software wouldn't properly detect the hardware (so you couldn't play Rift games without hacking), the distortion would be off, and some people even broke the screen attempting the mod. Don't try this at home.
