Help with button key remapping based on orientation

I have had this idea as well. I did at one point have a "ghetto" VR setup using a DDR pad. However I didn't have an HMD at the time, I was using a CRT monitor and 3D shutter glasses (so no need for remapping).
I think it would work. You'd just have to remember to return to the middle before you switch directions.
Unfortunately only one app can use the Rift tracker at one time. However you could use something like the Wii Motion+ with GlovePIE or FreePIE and that should work fine for this purpose. Hydra would work as well, but then you are wired and the range is low.
