How to add/remove an image/object (.dds) in OculusWorldDemo?

I had downloaded OculusSDK for windows. I opened the Oculus World Demo project in visual studio 2012 and run to see the output. The program is running fine. I would like to add or remove images or objects from the Oculus World Demo project. One of my colleague will design an image/object in dds format. I would like to add it in OculusWorldDemo project and see the outcome. But I am not getting how to achieve it. Could anyone help me out? I would also like to know if I can add .pxr format too or do we just need to add .dds format?

  • It's only an advice from "novice" at the moment but i suggest you to modify the tuscany(if with OculusWorldDemo you mean Tuscany demo) environment with the same Game Engine.

So i think is a good idea to download Unity3D from Developer zone in the Oculus site, import tuscany demo in Unity and after this you will be able to modify, add, remove object from the environment.

I hope it will helpful for you,if not I'm sorry, someone more expert than me will suggest you :)

Welby! Thanks for your reply. I have downloaded Unreal Development kit. But I am not able to open any files from the Tuscany demo. I am novice at oculus. Is there any video tutorials or books available for oculus development for those who wants to start oculus development from scratch?

I think the problem is caused because you're trying to open with Unreal Engine a demo make in Unity3D .You have to go on this link https://developer.oculus.com/ and you have to register an account. After this you can download Unity in "Download"section. After, you will be able to open Tuscany demo and modify them.

For my personal opinion unity3D is the best choice to begin for a novice developer and it have a very good documentation. If you want to see some tutorials to begin to develop game you have to go on the site of Unity3D : http://unity3d.com/learn and you can find a "tutorial section" on this site.

If you have other troubles ask me without problem :) I'm novice too to develop game but i'm used unity3D from 2 months and i know something about it so i can help you ^^
