How to get oculus to boot into extended mode on windows

Hi vr community,

Having produced a vr experience for a client, I need it to be as easy as possible for them to run it at trade shows without my input.

I am supplying a windows pc with the VR experience preloaded.

I would like the Oculus runtime to boot into extended mode, at the moment is seems to always default to Direct mode when the pc is booted up.

I am on windows 8.1

Any thoughts please?

  • I thought the display mode was supposed to save.

I will double-check and then create a bug report if I can reproduce it.

If you want the most hassle-free experience, you should code you game to use Direct mode.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

The oculus display mode doesn't get saved on my PC between reboots. I am pretty sure this is happening on my other machine as well.

As for the direct more, I have never been able to get unity direct builds to work on my machine without crashing straight away. I wasn't aware that I had to do anything special in unity to make this setting work. It has always crashed even on simple scenes.

So given that my only option is to set the Oculus config to extended mode on booting , are there any options that I can use to force it to extended mode?

    Thanks
