I never realized until yesterday...
I never realized how many crybabies are on the internet until yesterday. Wow. Now I feel kind of ashamed of being in the same group of people who were waiting for the Oculus Rift.
So many crybaby-hippy thinking- no global grown up kids out there. Get real please. Good intentions and a bunch of cash made off a kickstarters won't change the future. Solid cash will. Deal with it.

- 66gravunderHonored GuestHaha yeah, there are arguments both ways bud. This may increase VRs awareness of the general public and promote more competition yeilding better products. So there are many more who will benefit from this. You just have to stand in a developers shoes who initially bought into this dream with real money and didn't wait around. They invested in Oculus and believed in Oculus, not FB. Oculus even said they weren't in the business for a buyout in interviews, so maybe you can understand why mostly just developers are upset.
- StereomikeHonored GuestIt is really funny, when you think about the arguments of both sides.
The ones who think this is a great move (and got thanked by cyberreality etc)
The ones who are sad, angry etc about it.
The arguments of the pro-group are, this will be good for VR in the end, no matter if oculus will still be alive in some years.
The 'whiners' were actually the guys that had an emotional bond to oculus and its people.
Keep that in mind, when you judge reactions. - raidho36ExplorerCorrection: they're hater fanatis.
- StereomikeHonored GuestNo, you don't understand people.
These 'were' oculus fanboys. Guys with passion for Palmer and the company. These aren't haters. They _feel_ betrayed, it has an emotional dimension. Obviously not for you. The ones that can keep an emotional distance just see VR as a technology, which is a professional attitude. But that also mean, that these people are not fanboys like the guys burning reddit right now.
Where would apple today without fanboys?
[edit]
I answer that rhetoric question myself, you have a tendency to not see the obvious answer and deliver some wishful thinking:
Where would apple today without fanboys?
Nowhere, the fanboys where the biggest marketing force apple ever had. - obzenExpert ProtegeWhat has this discussion got to do with development. And you're talking about 'professionals'?

I assume you just scanned my text and only the word 'professional' came to your attention.
Please read this full sentence again:
"The ones that can keep an emotional distance just see VR as a technology, which is a professional attitude."
The OVR fanboys are very heated right now, therefore you see them smashing their dk1, canceling preorders etc. - raidho36Explorer

You think that fanboys who ready to swith sides in a drop of a hat aren't really worth anything? Because they're a herd that goes whereever it's guided, and will be guided back just as easily? - Br0kenHonored GuestIt's not betrayal. In order to change the world needs a lot of money, not only crowdfunding.
Facebook gave the money. Profit!
Haters whining about "FACEBOOK IS EVIL CORP! VR FARMVILLE! OCULUS IS DEAD!" are just pathetic. - raidho36ExplorerAs if someone was forcing you to play Farmwille instead of Call of Doge.
- StereomikeHonored GuestI don't know if they are easy to get back. But ignoring the emotional dimension of the matter will lead to wrong decisions while handling the situation.
The hatred that you see is not from some paid trolls that were advised to stamp on the competition. The guys that are yelling the loudest right now are the ones that feel the greatest pain because, their passion was the biggest. We're not dealing with enemies here. Were dealing with disappointment and disrupted expectations of close friends of the company.
