I Read post and Upgraded to windows 10, endless reboot loop
I had read a post on reddit that said I would get some performance gains by updating to Windows 10. I was aware it's not fully supported yet by Oculus, but this talk got me excited so I figured I would give it a try. I downloaded the newest Windows 10 Nvidia Drivers (352.84-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql.exe) WDDM 2.0 I assume?
I followed all of the instructions for reinstalling the runtime, manually starting the OVRServer_x86.exe in Windows 8 compatibility mode, forcing extended mode. Since installing windows 10 with these drivers the rift will just endlessly turn the power light on and off. If I turn the rift off, I can no longer turn it back on unless I completely turn off the PC. In which it does constant turning on/off again.
I tried the Windows 8.1 drivers for Windows 10 also, the pre wddm 2.0 ones, but have the same issue. Does anyone have any ideas of how to fix this? I think I just got myself in a bit of a pickle and hope I didn't screw something up inside the actual rift.
Edit: Could part of my problem be that it says "Build 10074" in the bottom right corner? I had read something about maybe needing 10130 just now.
Edit2: Hmm, I went to windows update and something called "fbl_impressive Core 10130" keeps failing. I have no idea why the update won't come through. I did this windows 10 upgrade from Windows 8.1, I don't understand why they wouldn't put me at 10130 by default.
Edit3: After several hours I now have 10130 installed, exact same issues. When I start the ovrserver_x86.exe in windows 8 compat mode the rift rebooting stops now. But there's a windows blue circle cursor when I look inside the rift. The only way to get rid of it is the close the ovrserver_x86.exe. In which the rift starts rebooting endlessly again.

- vrguy2ProtegeUpdate: I followed a forum poster's instructions on here and at least got the 0.5.0.1 runtime working.
"0.5.0.1 Runtime SDK: Uninstall any Oculus programs/drivers (leave all DK2 cables plugged in & make sure tracker is plugged into powered USB hub) -> reboot -> run 0.5.0.1 as admin (don't run in compatibility mode) -> reboot "
I was never able to get the 0.6 runtime working though, just had a blue cursor circle whenever I tried to manually run the ovrserver x86 file in compatibility mode.
I received an error when I first tried to install the 0.5.0.1 runtime, but everything appears to be working normally in extended mode at this time. This should get me by until Oculus releases official windows 10 support. The headtracking latency is a tad high in extended mode, never really noticed that before. Oh well, I'm very happy it works!
