i7 2700K Does not meet Min Requirements??
Yes Sandy Bridge CPU's are starting to show their age but last I checked a stock 2700k still out performs a i5-4590 in most benchmarks. The Rift compatibility tool seems like its trying to get people to do unnecessary CPU upgrades?

- irishd15Honored GuestAmd FX6300 cpu here and R7 260x gpu....
I was expecting to have to upgrade gpu but FX6300 fails the test too :( oh and so does all my usb ports lol :| - I ran the compatibility tool and it said my ASUS 3.0 USB is incompatible and that my i7-3770k isn't up to spec.
I'm not going to lie and say I don't want one, even at $600.
But being a disabled father of 2, there is just no way.
$450 would have been stretching it.
So you are looking at $600 plus $300 for a chip and another $50 for a decent USB card?
Such a sad, sad day. I have been patiently waiting years for this, a life time in all truth.
I had close to the $450 saved up. Not over $1000
I don't suppose some kind soul at Oculus would send me one? - JaabaProtegeI've got a Xeon E3-1230-v3 running at 3.3GHz and it beats hands down the i5-4590. I'm suspecting the compatibility tool isn't doing its job well.
- KarlHungusProtegeMy Asus Sabertooth p67 passed the USB and and Ram requirements. I am not to worried about my 2700K because overclocking it should solve any issues if I have any. I would think i7 3770K should also preform just fine with a minor overclock if needed.
A FX6300 could be pushing it, that CPU does under perform a i5 4590 but a good sized margin. - thealgorithmProtegeYou will still be able to run the software regardless if the compatibility checker detects it as insufficient (even though it really is sufficient) Had the same issue when I had the GTX 750 and GTX 960 gpu as well as the Geforce Experience program mentioning it was insufficient. Was still able to run. (Also now have the GTX 970) :-)
Lets hope they don't block users that fail the requirement in a future SDK update.. Or maybe NVidia themselves may limit/block features?) - - Crazyjay4207Honored GuestI can understand my GPU may be a little sub par its only a gtx 750 but my i7-3770 CPU isn't good enough? Guess ill cry myself to sleep tonight cause the wife wont approve that much of an upgrade :*(

The GPU is the most important component for the Oculus Rift DK1/2 and CV1. Provided that the cpu is powerful above a certain threshold to prevent cpu bottleneck (The I5/I7 should be perfectly fine) You need at least something in the efficiency/speed range as a GTX 970.
I had the GTX 750 and not many DK2 demos, games and experiences ran at full frame rate. Had the 960 which was an improvement but there were still quite a few (60%+ or so that did not run full frame rate either)
With the recently purchase GTX 970, most run at full 75fps (Although there are a few where I need to lower display quality settings) - Crazyjay4207Honored Guest

So my cpu should be sufficient enough aslong as i upgrade my GPU? This compatibility check is a little misleading to say the least. - thealgorithmProtege

The CPU is definitely sufficient enough (Even if the program mentions it is not, it will not stop you from running the runtime etc.
Personally I would recommend the minimum of a GTX 970. I have this with the i5 3570k CPU and near or enough everything runs fine (Even third party games via VorpX driver in full 3D) - laminblakeExplorerOnce games start running using DX12 there won't even be a CPU requirement for things like this imo since the graphics jobs aren't shared with the CPU.
