Is switching between runtimes possible?

Anyone know if it's possible to switch between runtimes?

I have a 0.4.4 delivery coming up soon, and it's too late in the project for me to risk upgrading to 0.5.0.1-beta. This project is tied to specific hardware and software distributed at client sites, and I cannot upgrade those (at least, not any time soon).

However, I have to use 0.5.0.1-beta for a separate project!

Other than booting between separate win 8.1 installs with separate runtimes, is there any way of switching between runtimes?

0.4.4 built titles should still work with the 0.5.0.1 Runtime.

That's great to know - but at this late stage in the project a 'should' isn't as good as 'will' :D

Are there any reported issues with projects built with 0.4.4 experiencing issues with 0.5.0.1 ?
  • most things are built for 4.4 and I've been using 5.0.1 (on windows 10 no less, with an AMD card) on amd's beta video drivers (using wddm 1.3) and I have yet to have a single oculus demo not work.

There is some talk that UE stuff built before 4 ignores ipd settings. That's all I've heard, and I can't say I've experienced it.

Every oculus app with direct mode works. (most) oculus apps work in extended desktop, some I have to alt+enter or winkey+shift+rightarrow to move to the correct monitor, but that's it.

It's worth noting that I also have a monitor that is 1920x1080 75hz - not having my monitor at 75hz while in extended mode causes significant issues with FPS and judder on all but the newest demos, but modern stuff like New Retro Arcade and Technolust, or running from UE4 and Unity 5 in things I've made personally are nice and smooth.
  • All the 0.4.4 games I've tried still work on 0.5.0.1. I can't really say it absolutely works for every game, as there are so many variable PC configurations and surely there are still a few issues here and there. I'd recommend you test your app yourself with both 0.5.0.1 and 0.4.4 to be certain. You can pretty easily uninstall and reinstall the runtime to try different versions (just make sure to reset in between each step).
