9 years agoJust A Couple Of Questions About Rift And Touch Development
I've been working on a game for the Rift that was originally going to be Gamepad controls only, but since getting my Touch controllers on launch day I've decided to have it Touch controlled only because...well, they're awesome lol
I'm only doing this as a hobby on my own but I'm planning on having this available on the Oculus Store so I've got a few questions regarding Touch controls and the Oculus Store:
1) Where can I get the models for Touch controllers and hands from..? I've looked in the Oculus SDK and the Avatars SDK and the only assets I've found are from the Tuscany demo.
2) Once I get hold of those models will I be free to reskin the hands to make them appear human and use the snimations included..?
3) I was originally planning on releasing this for free but now I quite like the idea of having all of the proceeds going to charity. Will Oculus be up for doing this..?
If anyone's interested I've started a Dev Blog on the VR Spies' forum here:

The game is going to be a Dreadhallsish game but set in deep space on a ship where all of the crew have been slaughtered by each other or alien parasites. I'm at the REALLY early stage of development at the moment, I've got the plot sorted out, missions pretty much sorted out in my head and have started work on the models. I've only done 12 so far and haven't done any UV Unwrapping yet because I'm avoiding it so far like the plague lol
Any help you guys can give me regarding those questions above will be very much appreciated. :D

- AnonymousI may be wrong but I believe they are in the Avatar SDK possibly hard coded within the API itself. you may be able to extract them or find another source. Proceeds for charity is up to you I guess once oculus take the store cut. As they will be hosting the content it is fair they take a cut.
- star14ExplorerYeah, when you use the Avatar SDK you receive the raw mesh and texture data from the SDK, so you could save them out to a file (or just load them every time the app loads). The sample included with the Avatar SDK shows how to render them. One thing that's nice about the Avatar SDK is that it handles animating the movements of the controllers (thumbsticks, buttons, etc.)
