Leap Motion 3D Jam 2.0 starts Sept. 28th
It's back! For six weeks, starting on Sept. 28th, developers around the world will build innovative experiences for virtual reality, desktop, mobile, and beyond.
Last year’s competition was incredible, with over 150 submissions and some really amazing titles. For 3D Jam 2015, teams will compete in two tracks – Open and AR/VR. We’re giving away over $50,000 in prizes. Entries will be accepted until November 9th, 2015 at 11:59:59 pm PST.

- dignifiedwebExpert ProtegeI'm interested in entering this with a friend. When are we allowed to start building our entries? Are there strict timelines when development can start?
Can we submit an entry in each track? So, one in AR/VR and another in the other more general track? - alexcolganProtege

Awesome! You can start building your entry anytime, but it's important that it not be published anywhere ahead of the Jam. Essentially, that means that screenshots, videos, etc. are OK, but no public sharing on the web. This is to ensure that only original content makes it into the competition. When we open up submissions on itch.io, you'll be able to upload and share your project with the public.

You can submit as many entries as you like in either track. In fact, last year we had a competitor with two semi-final submissions. My advice would be to take on whatever you're comfortable with :D - andrewtekMemberThanks for the info Alex! This looks like a lot of fun. I am definitely considering entering. Is there a new/better Leap Motion Controller that I should consider upgrading to or are they all the same?

Still the same controller, but we've rolled out some tracking improvements with recent software releases (and more on the way). - andrewtekMemberCool. I noticed the image hands feature. Is this only for Unity, or has it been implemented in Unreal Engine as well?
Thanks! - alexcolganProtegeCurrently it's Unity only, but we're hoping to have it available for Unreal relatively soon.
- andrewtekMemberThat is good news. Any chance that means by Sept 28?
- alexcolganProtegeThat's our hope, but it's too early to tell. We're working hard to bring in a few things under the wire for the 28th.

I'm having issues using the unity package for the newest version of Unity 5. Is there a specifically recommended version of Unity 5? I can't find the link right now, but I saw a page on the leap motion website yesterday that stated I should download the latest VR unity core assets, use latest Unity, and check the "vr enabled" setting in the player configuration screen.
Any specific recommendations for setting up a brand new scene with just robot hands and a 3D scene, no image passthrough?
