  • selkess, did they perchance mention whether they would have support for predictive modeling? The motion tracking on the Leap under their skeletal SDK is 4-6ms latency on average, but the rendering pipeline for the rest of the UI might be more than that - so it would need to be able to do a timewarp extrapolation similar to DK2 tracking in order to match the distance of that look-ahead, in order to create high-fidelity synchronicity (required for good proprioceptive presence, which goes beyond the standard VR presence in terms of immersion).

I'm planning on starting work on integration of the 2 SDKs in the next day or two, and if they're not already doing that I might have to fill in the blanks - if that happens I'll open it up in GitHub.
  • Heard back from the Leap Motion folks - given that their sampling latency is so low in general this isn't something they implement right now, but if this is being integrated into a slower rendering pipeline it'll definitely make sense. I'll try out some different Kalman filter libraries and see where the break-even point is for time-to-calculate vs. time-to-render.

new video shows dk2 working whit leap motion but no clue about if it works whit the pos camera. ?

but if it works its a cheap alternative to hand tracking .

Based on our experiences with the DK2, the Leap Motion Controller shouldn't cause any interference with positional tracking. In fact, there's at least one game in development, called Blast Buster, that's already using it successfully. Check it out: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=3402

(Note that SxKx's issue with positional tracking, noted in that thread, is resolved in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=37&t=12003)
