Lenses

I was just wondering if anyone knew were to order lenses.. I have looked around with no luck. The ones that come with the oculus are 1" with 2" focal length. I can't use my glasses so I was thinking of adding my own.

thanks

There are three pairs of lenses that come with the Rift, where the 'C'-labelled ones are for people with the most severe myopia.
Most glasses will fit inside. You can probably test with normal ski goggles if your's will fit.
  • You should able to use your glasses if you change the eye-cups, or adjust the Rift screen to be further out.
  • Has anyone played around with the different lenses? I got my Oculus with A installed, but actually put B in there now and seem to like them better.

I wear glasses, my one eye has almost no prescription, but my other has an astigmatism.

Just wondered which pair most people left in.

I seemed to notice the screen door effect more with my A's in.

From a theoretical point of view I would say the A cups are best, when your IPD is close to 64mm. With the B or C lenses the screen is magnified more in my understanding and the screen door effect should be more visible. With the A lenses with perfect vision or glasses (with the right correction) the eyes should relax and look to infinity to see an image. When wearing glasses with the B cups you have to focus a little bit and the screen is magnified more => the screen door effect should be visible more (and the FoV will be reduced). One could think that with the B lenses and glasses you see a little bit blurry while relaxing your eyes to infinity (instead of focussing), therefore the screen door effect may be less pronounced.

But as I said - just theories as I don`t hav the DevKit yet :-)
