Needs to also work without a Rift.

I need my software to also work on computers that don't have a Rift or any Rift drivers or Runtime installed.
How do I go about that?

EDIT: Answer: Nothing special seems to be required. Without the runtime installed, the SDK works fine except that it doesn't detect the Rift.
It would be nice to be able to inform the user that they have a Rift but no runtime though. But it's not essential.

  • it's pretty easy to detect if there's no rift connected. in that case you can do whatever you would normally do, I.e render normally without distortion.
  • That's not what I meant. I mean, on computers of people who have never even heard of a Rift.
I'm not sure how the SDK is linked to the Runtime, so I don't know if my program will still run without it installed.
Just to make sure, I'm going to get my application running using the new SDK before I install the runtime.

EDIT: See first post for the answer. Everything works fine without the Runtime, except no Rifts are detected.
