This is a little disappointing on the core changes, a hdcp protection and a few new error codes...

Is it possible to elaborate on the firmware update for the camera ?
  • ..wasn't this the feature we are all waiting for? I mean who cares f.e. about disabling Timewarp option, If at least no HTC Vive will rip off our games. This had to have highest priority, when will Oculus exclude all Non-Store-Apps from running on the device, isn't it about time for more improvements?
  • ...and hell yeah, we have bad projects including files not present again... will this ever be fixed?
  • @thewhiteambit: "when will Oculus exclude all Non-Store-Apps from running on the device"

If they have any sense they won't ever do this.  I have no idea why you would think this is a good idea?  It would cause lots of developers to drop supporting the device and it's basically and a d*ck move to consumers.

The backlash against Oculus trying to treat it's PC display and peripheral device as a locked in platform rather than respecting the PC ecosystem is already starting and they are not the only VR headset in town.  If they can't compete like this and meet the needs of the PC market they need to leave it and go and make their own console.
  • EDIT:
Nevermind. Looks like secondary drives are now patched: https://forums.oculus.com/developer/discussion/32272/guide-installation-of-oculus-software-to-non-system-drives/p1

I wonder though, could they have an update when they update the runtimes? I don't find them on the downloads page. They are just for SDK's and Platforms.

With the update, can we install the runtime on a separate hard drive now? I know a while back, they had said that their next update (post 1.3) would allow us to save games and the runtime to our secondary drive. From anyone who has updated, can anyone confirm this?

Actually, nevermind. Scratch that question. This was only for the SDK and Platform. Still, anyone know about any updates to the Runtime where you can download Home to another drive? My OS drive is getting filled up. A while back they said they would have released a patch for this now. It doesn't look like the Runtime setup .exe is updated.

There seems to be a crucial bit of information missing when trying to install the latest version of the Oculus SDK. The instructions on this page: https://developer.oculus.com/documentation/pcsdk/latest/concepts/dg-sdk-setup/#dg_hardware_setup do not say where to install it to. It's a zip file with a load of nested folders, there's no exe.

I've probably missed something somewhere, but I have had a good look around...

     - Can anyone tell me where the Oculus Platform SDK should be unzipped to?

Anywhere you want it, if you do not understand what it contains, it is probably not for you !
