- FritoExplorerI dont mind cables (long plz) if they are needed for a strong feedback
- mwoodyHonored GuestI wouldn't think I'd mind cables, but I have a Razer Hydra right now and the sole reason I hardly ever use it is the cables; it's far, far more of an inconvenience than I would have expected, especially with the rift thrown in to the mix.
I know I'm echoing the sentiments of others, I know the physical feedback nature of the device gives it high power requirements, and I know you can't have made the decision to make it wired lightly... But the difference between me backing this device and not will come down entirely to the wires. - TacticalHapticsHonored GuestHi @mwoody and @lucsasaki and @ziphnor,
We understand that wires are less than ideal, but it will introduce major cost, technical, and schedule risk if we released our initial developer kit to be completely wireless.
So, we've been thinking about this as better to deliver a wired product on time than risk failing on delivering a completely wireless version.
We have been considering offering wireless communication as a stretch goal, but still having wired power. While not giving a fully wireless solution, this could allow those that are interested to plug in their own battery pack. But again this would introduce risk AND we're not sure if this will be a capability that backers will actually be excited about since it still isn't fully wireless.
Our goal has been to deliver a device that delivers the best haptic feedback (without any compromises on the quality of haptic feedback) as quickly as possible. And then once we have a working dev kit out in , then learn from that and improve before taking on more risk.
We could consider postponing our kickstarter for several months if enough people think that would be preferred to having a wired controller that could be delivered sooner.
Keep in mind that the consumer version IS intended to be wireless. - redslashaceHonored GuestI hope a lot of sword fighting games implement this controller :D!

Hmm in the case here's how you can get my money. Not sure if you can do this with kickstarter but if you had a pledge where I can give you guys a 100$ and in return when the consumer product comes out you gives me a 100$ off "coupon" or maybe 110$ off special coupon I'd be willing to invest and patiently wait. You'd have devolloper tiers for people who want to start developping with the controller and enthusiast tiers for people like me who want the finish product but still want to help out the only way we can(with our wallets.)
Either way, best of luck to you!!
Luc - TacticalHapticsHonored GuestHi Luc
We've been considering other pledge levels for people interested in helping out, but that weren't ready to buy a controller. We've got a few ideas, but we'll keep your suggestion in mind.
Thanks. - redslashaceHonored GuestI would say $300 is the magic number for 2 controllers. Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the suggestion. It's in the ballpark of what we've been considering. - philmccartyHonored GuestHi guys, this is a very cool controller!
I noticed in your Kickstarter video that you mentioned that the SwordDemo (and Flail?) are both currently functional with the Hydra and Oculus...
Is there anywhere we can download these? They look great! - TacticalHapticsHonored GuestHi philmccarty,
Those demos aren't currently posted anywhere, but we'll look into this. Quite honestly they are pretty lame without our hapitc feedback though as they are really meant to highlight various in-game interactions with and without Reactive Grip feedback (where the take away from the demos is meant to highlight how poor rumble, or no haptic feedback is when compared to Reactive Grip).
