News on new Sixense tracking--5 points and wireless

I'm excited about this. Could be perfect for the oculus rift if the price is right.

Does anyone know if it will work 'out of box' with games already developed with the Hydra controllers?

The sixense site says it will be software-compatible with the Razer Hydra. Existing Hydra games should work with the STEM out of the box.

Looks like the price is fair, but the July 2014 release is a bit of a letdown.

In order to foster a robust developer community, the STEM System will be an open platform for creators of both software and hardware consumer products. Developers will be able to create games with virtually no restrictions and to embed STEMs for tracking of their own peripherals or wearable devices, such as swords, baseball bats or head-mounted displays. The modularity of the STEM System will give developers the flexibility and autonomy they need to create motion-tracked titles complete with motion-tracked peripherals of their own design.

Looks like the tactical haptics guys will have no problems using the STEM in their controllers. I'm curious what the haptic feedback in the sixense controllers consists of though.

Went with a full set at the $299 point myself.

Went in for the early bird 3 tracker. The release date is a bit of a let down but I'm still excited.

Why is the release date a letdown? Should be quite obvious.
Development takes time and if they were already done with it they would not need our funding : )
