No impressive VR app so far.
Similar to Augmented Reality, when it was first introduced, everyone thought it was cool but after so many years, we have not yet seen a successful application/game which convincingly makes good use of the technology.... I am afraid VR is having the same issue as Oculus Rift DK has been released for a while already, nothing is really impressive, practical and necessarily...
Do you agree?

Why do you think that is?
Could it be because the technology is not good enough yet for great AR?
Are you aware how far along Oculus Rift is in the VR department?

Don't you think a `non-consumer development kit` at this stage is too early to make judgements and comparisons to other technology?Do you agree?
No. - chungHonored GuestName one application or game or prototype or demo people have done so far which you think is impressive.
- jrbmHonored GuestSenza Peso
- chungHonored Guestbtw, don't get me wrong... I am a big of VR and since I bought the Oculus Rift DK, I am checking share.oculus.com for anything interesting but honestly, so far no luck.... I am just worried that it would be like the 3D TV which was very hot, we got a lot of 3D broadcasting like Football, Tennis, etc but recently, people found it not really that impressive and it doesn't really help improving the watching experience but more of a gimmick thing.
- nicoroseHonored GuestWhat? Trolling?
I cant hardly name a app thats not impressive with the rift...
Even if you only use it only for Video its brilliant.. Try VRcinema and view a Movie of your choise on a virtual 20 Meter Multiplex screen in 3D.
Thats not impressive?1? What kind of "video glasses" ever gave you a feeling like this? And thats only a little app.
Or... Drive a race in Assetto Corsa...
Or. Fly with War Thunder...
Thats not "impressive" for you? Even on a DK1 Rift. For me its way more impressive as a 3D movie or 3D TV. - SharpfishHeroic ExplorerWhy is it always newly signed up users or guys with 2-3 post counts who come in here with doom and gloom stories about VR and the rift? yeah right.
Like you or anyone knows where it's headed, give it chance DK2 isn't even in developer's hands yet (well - not all developer's hands).
There will be no super impressive app yet because CV1 is NOT RELEASED!!! if you find the same complaint at the time CV1 *IS* released then you may have a point, right now everything inc the 'killer software' is in development.
And btw since when has gaming been either 'practical' (particularly) or 'necessary'? Comparing AR to VR is completely pointless, they are vastly different. Hardly anyone gives a stuff about AR in reality because it IS either a cool gimmick OR it's future lies in things outside of entertainment. VR primarily is targeted towards games, which always are valid (to gamers) even without a reason as such. The other areas that VR will break into are mind blowing given time.
I think you are a little impatient and short sighted frankly. AR nor 3D/3DTV and other flavours of the year are remotely like what VR will offer once it's got the kinks worked out.
troll thread is troll thread - Jedi2016Honored GuestAlso bear in mind that the things are being released now are mostly little one-off projects by very small indie developers. None of the big AAA studios have just thrown something out there for free. We won't see any of the "real" stuff until CV1 is released. Even things like Senza Peso are just for kicks. I mean, they're giving it away for free. Eventually, folks and studios will be selling their VR wares, and that's where things will start to really take off.
When I read posts like this, I get a very real sense that these people don't really understand the concept of what a developer kit is, or what the demos being released on the Share site are actually for. - PathogenDavidHonored Guest^ Pretty much what Jedi2016 said, we aren't going to see "really impressive"* stuff until CV1 because its not interesting to big studios to release something for a developer kit. Imagine if EA started selling COD 3000 for the Xbox One in stores before the Xbox One was even released just so devs who had dev kits for it could play it? Obviously the Rift dev kits are easier to get, but I feel the concept still holds.
Could it be because the technology is not good enough yet for great AR?
I think this is the reason smartphone AR isn't common yet. I've never used an AR app on any smartphone that I found impressive. There were always cool ideas, but everything was always too laggy or jittery to be useful. - ShockboltExplorer[Excited]
War thunder, I can't imagine what fun this game will be with the DK2 Rift, spent many a day getting nauseous
in this game when I got my first Rift last year. - drashHeroic Explorer
